Ministry of Education: 161 schools furnished in accordance with needs and approved distribution plans
As part of its ongoing preparations to welcome the 2026/2027 academic year, and in continuation of its efforts to enhance the readiness of educational institutions and elevate the standard of the school environment, the Ministry of Education is implementing its comprehensive plans to provide various educational and logistical needs for schools. These measures aim to ensure an organized start to the new academic year, in accordance with the directives of Minister of Education Eng. Syed Jalal Al-Tabatabai.
The Ministry of Education clarified that the Supplies and Warehouses Department continues its work of equipping and reinforcing schools with necessary furniture, based on requirement lists submitted by competent authorities and approved distribution plans. This contributes to providing a suitable educational environment for students and teachers at the start of the school year.
The Ministry noted that current equipping and reinforcement efforts cover 161 schools distributed across various educational districts. This plan is based on the actual needs of each school, ensuring optimal use of resources and guaranteeing that equipment reaches schools according to their priorities and requirements.
The plan includes providing and reinforcing schools with more than 15,000 pieces of student furniture for different educational stages. This includes chairs specifically designed for kindergarten, as well as furniture suitable for primary, intermediate, and secondary stages. Additionally, it features developed student desks that are modular and can be reconfigured to align with the nature of educational activities.
The Ministry of Education explained that the distribution plan for the developed furniture also includes fully furnishing five new schools with this type of furniture, including the two Gifted Schools. This aligns with the Ministry’s direction to provide a modern and flexible classroom environment from the moment these schools open, alongside continuing to reinforce existing schools with furniture based on their actual needs and approved lists from competent authorities.
The Ministry highlighted that the developed school furniture features flexible and practical designs that allow desks in classrooms to be arranged in various configurations. This supports individual, group, and collaborative learning patterns, giving teachers greater space to prepare the classroom environment to suit the nature of the lesson and educational activity, thereby enhancing student interaction and participation.
The Ministry emphasized that the approved specifications for the new furniture considered several aspects related to student comfort, safety, and usage quality, alongside durability and ease of movement and organization. This provides a more flexible classroom environment suitable for daily use and contributes to the efficient utilization of educational spaces within classrooms.
It was further noted that the design of the desks and chairs accounted for the differing needs of students and the nature of various educational stages, as well as practical considerations such as the ease of rearranging and configuring certain types of furniture according to classroom activities. This supports diverse teaching methods and gives classrooms greater adaptability to different educational requirements.
The Ministry pointed out that equipping efforts are not limited to providing furniture; they are part of a broader trend to develop the school environment and improve the efficiency of facilities and equipment to meet the needs of the educational process. The Ministry continues to monitor supply, distribution, and equipping processes to ensure completion according to specified timelines.
The Ministry also affirmed that equipping and reinforcing schools with furniture represents one of the key pathways within the preparation plan for the 2026/2027 academic year. This plan aims to meet the actual needs of educational institutions, enhance their readiness, and provide a safe, organized, and motivating educational environment that supports students and teachers while keeping pace with the requirements of modern education.
The Ministry of Education stressed its continued parallel implementation of preparations for the new academic year across various educational, administrative, technical, and logistical pathways. This is part of an integrated system aimed at ensuring school readiness and welcoming students into a prepared educational environment, reflecting the Ministry’s commitment to providing the best conditions for a stable and successful start to the 2026/2027 academic year.
For his part, Firas Kartash, Director of the Supplies and Warehouses Department at the Ministry of Education, confirmed that the department is moving rapidly to complete the equipping of new and existing schools, supplying them with all their needs for student and school furniture, in accordance with the plan approved by the Ministry.
Kartash explained that the equipping works are part of intensive preparations to ensure the readiness of classrooms and school buildings before the start of the academic year, contributing to providing a suitable educational environment for students and educational field workers.
He added that, coinciding with the Ministry of Education’s announcement regarding the entry of several new schools into service at the beginning of the academic year, the Supplies and Warehouses Department has worked to allocate and provide the required quantities of office and student furniture, according to approved estimated budgets from competent authorities, and in compliance with the highest standards of quality and organization.
Kartash noted that these measures are part of the Ministry’s commitment to completing all necessary equipping and preparations before the start of the academic year, ensuring an organized and stable launch for the 2026/2027 academic year.
