Ministry of Commerce participates in the 16th meeting of the Gulf Committee for Consumer Protection

The Ministry of Commerce and Industry, represented by the Commercial Control and Consumer Protection Department, participated in the sixteenth meeting of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Consumer Protection Committee, held via video conferencing technology.

The meeting discussed several key agenda items, foremost among them the draft unified GCC Consumer Protection Law, updates on the committee’s future objectives and action plan, and mechanisms to enhance the exchange of information and expertise in consumer protection among member states.

Ensuring supply chains and showcasing Kuwait’s experience

The meeting also examined and discussed ways to ensure the continuous flow of supply chains for food and essential goods, particularly in emergency situations and crises, to guarantee market stability and protect consumers’ food security in GCC countries.

In this context, Faisal Al-Ansari, Director of the Commercial Control and Consumer Protection Department at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, presented a comprehensive visual presentation outlining the main pillars and objectives of Kuwait’s initiative in the field of “Consumer Protection,” highlighting the supervisory efforts and mechanisms implemented to strengthen consumers’ rights in the local market.
