Al-Hawila: Competence is the basis for selecting "supervisory positions"
Kuwait’s Minister of Social Affairs, Labor, Family, and Childhood, Dr. Amthal Al-Huwail, affirmed yesterday that the selection of candidates for cooperative supervisory positions is based on an integrated process grounded in competence, merit, transparency, and equal opportunity.
This statement came in an interview with the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) marking the commencement of examinations for applicants vying for 90 financial and administrative inspector positions within the cooperative sector, with 720 Kuwaiti men and women participating. This initiative aligns with the ministry’s efforts to attract national talent and strengthen the oversight framework for cooperative societies.
Al-Huwail noted that the advertised positions include 30 financial inspector roles and 60 administrative inspector roles, emphasizing the ministry’s commitment to selecting qualified national personnel capable of fulfilling supervisory responsibilities, safeguarding cooperative funds, and enhancing financial and administrative performance efficiency.
She clarified that the examinations were prepared and administered in collaboration with the American University in Kuwait, contributing to the application of objective standards to assess candidates’ professional and academic competence, thereby reinforcing the integrity and credibility of the selection procedures.
The exams were conducted in two sessions—morning and evening—under comprehensive administrative and technical organization. Al-Huwail explained that the examinations are monitored via cameras and visually documented, with established supervisory procedures implemented to ensure discipline and provide equal opportunities for all applicants.
Al-Huwail indicated that passing the written exam requires achieving a score of at least 80 percent to advance to the personal interview stage before the relevant committee within the ministry. She noted that the interview accounts for 10 percent of the final evaluation, enabling a comprehensive assessment of candidates’ academic and professional attributes.
In this regard, she stressed that the ministry will spare no effort in developing cooperative oversight tools and empowering qualified national talent, highlighting that financial and administrative inspectors play a pivotal role in monitoring cooperative societies’ compliance with governing laws and regulations, identifying observations, and addressing them to protect shareholders’ rights.
In the same context, Al-Huwail stated that this step falls within the ministry’s plan to develop the cooperative sector and complete the policy of Kuwaitization, building a more efficient and effective supervisory apparatus in line with the state’s direction toward improving government performance and enhancing governance and integrity.
She expressed her best wishes for success to all applicants, affirming that examination results and subsequent procedures will be subject to the announced controls and standards without exception, and that selection will be based on competence and merit to ensure the choice of the best national candidates.
