Investment Companies Union: Egypt a key market for Kuwaiti investors and a source of new cooperation opportunities

The Kuwait Investment Companies Association, in cooperation with the Commercial Representation Office of the Egyptian Embassy in Kuwait, organized a virtual seminar featuring economic and investment leaders from both countries to discuss developments in the Egyptian market, economic reforms, available investment opportunities and products, and ways to enhance cooperation between the business communities of the two nations.
Abdullah Al-Turkiet, President of the Association, emphasized that the seminar is part of the Association’s efforts to open direct channels for Kuwaiti investment companies and investors to identify available opportunities in regional markets and engage with economic, financial institutions, and decision-makers therein.
Al-Turkiet stated that Egypt represents an important market and a key economic and investment partner for Kuwait, noting the presence of more than 1,800 Kuwaiti companies invested in Egypt, reflecting Kuwaiti investors' confidence in the Egyptian economy.
He clarified that the coming phase offers a broad scope for building new partnerships, leveraging the expertise of Kuwaiti investment companies in asset and wealth management, funds, and portfolios, alongside financing, structuring, and organizing investment opportunities.
He added that the participation of approximately 50 figures from the Kuwaiti investment and financial sectors in the seminar reflects interest in developments in the Egyptian market, reaffirming the Association’s continued role in connecting its member companies with regional and international markets and opportunities, and transforming proposed opportunities into actual partnerships and investment projects.
**$1.387 Billion in Trade Volume**
For his part, Egyptian Ambassador to Kuwait Mohamed Abu Al-Wafa affirmed that the distinguished relations between the two countries form a strong foundation for enhancing economic and investment cooperation, calling for the continued development of this cooperation in line with the depth of relations between the two nations.
Commercial Counselor Nashwa Salah highlighted that the volume of trade between Kuwait and Egypt rose to approximately $1.387 billion in 2025, compared to $1.311 billion in 2024, representing a growth rate of 5.8 percent. Meanwhile, Kuwaiti investment flows to Egypt from 2004 through the end of 2025 reached approximately $7 billion, according to statistics from the Central Bank of Egypt.
She urged Kuwaiti companies to increase and diversify their investments in Egypt and take advantage of opportunities available across various sectors, while strengthening direct communication with relevant authorities to evaluate opportunities based on clear economic and investment criteria.
**$83 Billion Market Capitalization**
For his part, Omar Radwan, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Egyptian Exchange, outlined the most significant developments in the market, noting that the exchange’s market capitalization exceeded 4 trillion Egyptian pounds, equivalent to approximately $83 billion, coinciding with trading indices reaching record levels.
He pointed out that more than 385,000 new investors joined the exchange since the beginning of the year, while daily transactions exceeded 300,000, and the average daily trading volume surpassed 15 billion Egyptian pounds, reflecting an expansion of the investor base and increased demand for available financial instruments.
He also presented a range of products the exchange is working to develop and diversify, including derivatives, sukuk, bonds, index funds, and the carbon market, emphasizing that structural reforms, the development of trading mechanisms, and enhanced transparency are fundamental pillars for improving market efficiency and increasing its attractiveness to local and foreign investments.
