US plan to economically "choke" Iran

U.S. President Donald Trump threatened to launch what he described as an “economic day of reckoning” against Iran, as efforts to reopen the Strait of Hormuz and reach an agreement to end the nearly six-month-old war stalled. Trump said the United States would launch a broad economic campaign against Iran, describing it as “the most severe economic action ever taken against any country,” without disclosing additional specific measures beyond the stringent sanctions already imposed on Tehran. He added via his Truth Social platform that any country allowing its financial institutions, companies, airports, or government entities to provide support to Iran would face “massive economic consequences.” He called for an end to oil smuggling, barter lines, money transfers, currency exchange activities, and the registration of ships and shell companies linked to Iran.
