Interior Ministry: Suspension of automatic renewal of absence and visit permits

The Ministry of Interior announced yesterday the termination of the exceptional measures and the resumption of applying the legal validity periods for entry permits and leave permits, effective September 1 of next year. In a press release, the ministry stated that, starting September 1, 2026, the automatic extension of all types of “visit” entry permits for individuals present in the country will be discontinued, and the legal validity periods and the regulations and controls governing entry permits will be reinstated. It further added that the legal validity periods for leave permits for residents residing abroad will also be reinstated, while the additional exceptional period will continue to apply to residents who left the country on August 31, 2026, or earlier, in accordance with the governing regulations.
