Minister of Electricity Inspects Project to Deploy Artificial Intelligence in Smart Meters

Dr. Subhi Abdulaziz Al-Khazim, Minister of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy, met with a team of participants in the “Korea AI in Action Program 2026,” organized by the Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences in collaboration with Korea University, to review the team’s project on leveraging artificial intelligence technologies in smart meters. The team comprised Nour Saad Al-Rashidi, Ghaliyah Fahad Al-Khazim, Fawaz Dawood Al-Fahad, and Jaraah Fahad Al-Lafi, who presented a project aimed at developing AI-driven solutions based on smart meter data, contributing to efforts to optimize energy and water consumption. The project aligns with initiatives to enhance resource efficiency and promote conservation by utilizing modern technologies to analyze consumption data and translate it into practical solutions that improve energy and water management. It seeks to develop smarter mechanisms for leveraging meter data, thereby boosting consumption efficiency and supporting the state’s direction toward harnessing innovation and modern technologies in the electricity and water sectors. The meeting reflects the ministry’s interest in scientific and technical initiatives that contribute to innovative solutions for energy and water consumption challenges, and the use of AI applications to develop services and enhance resource management efficiency.
