Lebanese-American military talks address the continuation of Israeli aggression

Lebanese Army Chief of Staff General Rodolphe Heikel held talks with U.S. General Joseph Kellfield, head of the Special Military Coordination Group for Lebanon, regarding the ongoing Israeli attacks. The National News Agency reported that during a meeting at the U.S. general’s office, the two discussed developments in the south, security arrangements related to the framework agreement, and the difficulties faced by the Lebanese Army in carrying out its missions, foremost among them the continued Israeli occupation’s attacks and acts of bulldozing and destruction. Both sides also emphasized the importance of supporting the Lebanese Army amid its operations in the south and across various regions of Lebanon. It is recalled that Lebanon signed a trilateral framework agreement with the United States and Israel on June 26, following the conclusion of the fifth round of direct negotiations held in Washington. The agreement stipulates the implementation of two pilot zones involving an Israeli withdrawal and the deployment of the Lebanese Army, as well as the disarmament of non-state armed groups.
