Kuwait and Bahrain discuss expanding sports cooperation and exchanging expertise

Kuwait’s Minister of State for Youth and Sports Affairs, Dr. Tariq Al-Jalahma, held talks yesterday, Sunday, with Dr. Abdulrahman Askar, the Chief Executive Officer of the General Authority for Sports in the Kingdom of Bahrain, to explore ways to develop the sports sector in both countries and enhance cooperation in technical, administrative, and organizational fields, thereby contributing to elevating sports activities and realizing shared aspirations.
During the meeting, which took place as part of his visit to the Kingdom, Minister Al-Jalahma expressed his keenness to expand the frameworks of partnership and exchange of expertise and experiences between Kuwait and Bahrain, supporting the trajectory of sports development in both nations. He praised the solid fraternal relations between the two countries, noting the continuous cooperation across various fields, particularly in the youth and sports sectors.
He expressed his gratitude and appreciation to Sheikh Khaled bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, Chairman of the General Authority for Sports, and President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee, for his interest in strengthening sports cooperation between the two countries.
For his part, Dr. Askar conveyed greetings from Sheikh Khaled bin Hamad Al Khalifa to Minister Al-Jalahma, expressing his welcome to him and the accompanying delegation in the Kingdom of Bahrain, and reaffirming pride in the deep-rooted fraternal and historical relations between the two countries, as well as the commitment to enhancing sports cooperation and broadening the horizons for exchanging expertise and experiences.
Askar praised the distinguished history of Kuwaiti sports, highlighting its unique heritage and prominent status at both the Gulf and Arab levels, as well as the sports professionals it has produced who have contributed to enriching the trajectory of joint sports efforts.
The meeting discussed ways to develop sports cadres in both countries and implement joint initiatives, with an emphasis on continuing coordination between both sides to translate proposed areas of cooperation into practical programs and projects that ensure mutual benefit and enhance sports integration.
Minister Al-Jalahma’s visit to the Kingdom of Bahrain came in response to an invitation from Bahrain’s Minister of Youth Affairs, Rawan Tawfiq, and reflects the shared commitment to strengthening fraternal relations and developing cooperation pathways in the youth and sports sectors. During the visit, he held meetings with several officials to discuss mechanisms for supporting joint efforts.
The Minister concluded his visit with a tour of “Youth City” alongside Bahrain’s Minister of Youth Affairs, where he reviewed the city’s key facilities, programs, and initiatives for youth. He listened to a briefing on the activities, events, and training and educational spaces provided by the city, and its role in developing youth skills and refining their talents, reflecting the Kingdom of Bahrain’s interest in empowering youth, developing their capabilities, and providing a supportive environment for their creativity and talents, while enhancing their contribution to the development process.
