Hamas: Communications with mediators to ensure the occupation is bound by the road map

Hamas spokesperson Hazem Qasem stated that the movement’s meetings in Egypt are part of ongoing communications and diplomatic efforts with mediators to discuss developments in the Gaza Strip. Qasem added that Hamas is informing the mediators about the continuous violations by the Israeli occupation and is seeking, through these contacts, to ensure that the occupation is bound to implement the agreements reached within the roadmap.

The spokesperson emphasized that the meetings with the Egyptian side are part of efforts to monitor the implementation of the agreement and to prevent the occupation from shirking its commitments or imposing new facts on the ground that contradict what has been agreed upon, according to the German News Agency (dpa).

He noted that Hamas continues its political and diplomatic outreach with mediators, aiming to consolidate the agreement and ensure compliance with its provisions, thereby putting an end to violations and preventing any obstruction of the agreed-upon process.

A source familiar with Hamas and official Egyptian media reported that a Hamas delegation, led by Khaled Mashaal, head of the movement’s political bureau, had begun meetings with Egyptian General Intelligence Service head Lt. Gen. Hassan Rashad in the capital, Cairo.

The source told Shabab News Agency that the talks address several files and recent developments concerning the Palestinian cause, foremost among them efforts to consolidate the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip and to follow up on developments related to the agreement and the upcoming phase.

The Hamas delegation, in addition to Mashaal, includes Muhammad Darwish, head of the movement’s Shura Council; Khaled Mashal, head of Hamas abroad; Zahir Jabarin, head of Hamas in the West Bank; and Basem Naim, head of the Arab and Islamic Relations Office.
