UAE condemns Iranian attack on two ADNOC tankers in the Strait of Hormuz

The United Arab Emirates strongly condemned the attack targeting two tankers owned by Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) as they transited the Strait of Hormuz, confirming that no injuries were reported as a result of the incident. In a statement, the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that targeting the two tankers constitutes a blatant violation of United Nations Security Council Resolution 2817, which emphasizes ensuring freedom of navigation and rejects attacks on commercial vessels or the disruption of international maritime routes. The ministry affirmed that targeting commercial shipping and using the Strait of Hormuz as a means of economic pressure or coercion constitute acts of piracy by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps, warning that such practices pose a direct threat to regional security and stability, as well as to global energy security. The UAE stressed the need for Iran to halt these attacks and fully commit to ceasing all hostile acts, calling for the complete and unconditional reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, which would contribute to enhancing regional security and protecting global trade and economic activity.
