Qarqash: The region needs sustainable stability; it is not possible to remain in a state of no-war, no-peace.

Anwar Gargash, advisor to the UAE President, affirmed that the continued state of “no war, no peace” in the Arab region is not a sustainable option indefinitely. Gargash emphasized in a post on the X platform that “the future of peoples and regional stability require clarity of vision and direction, free from the ambiguity and hesitation that characterize transitional phases.” He stressed that the next phase cannot be built on fragile foundations or arrangements detached from international law and the foundations of peaceful coexistence, noting that any future construction must be grounded in established principles that respect national sovereignty and adopt peace as a strategic choice, rather than temporary solutions or arrangements lacking international legitimacy. He clarified that the desired goal is to transition to sustainable stability, governed by clear and shared rules among all parties, which guarantee the rights of peoples, achieve security and development, and put an end to the stagnation and setbacks the region has endured for decades, calling for an approach that combines realism and ambition in building the region’s future.
