The "Caravan for Palestine" coming from Bosnia organizes a gathering in Şanlıurfa, Turkey
Activists from the “Palestine Caravan,” which set off from Srebrenica in Bosnia and Herzegovina, organized a mass gathering in Şanlıurfa province in southern Turkey. More than 500 activists from 20 countries participating in the caravan joined the event, held in a public park, alongside representatives of civil society organizations and a large number of citizens. Participants chanted slogans including “Greetings to Gaza, resistance continues,” “From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free,” and “Global rebellion against global occupation.” They also waved Turkish and Palestinian flags and recited takbirs.
Speaking at the gathering, Hussein Dormaz, a spokesperson for the “Palestine Caravan,” stated that Şanlıurfa marks the caravan’s 15th stop, noting that participants had covered more than 3,000 kilometers. He added that the caravan requires further support in the coming phase, saying, “We have been on the road for 15 days, and difficult routes lie ahead.” He continued, “This is your caravan, the caravan of those with consciences who say: We cannot remain in our places while our brother’s house burns and fire falls on our neighbor’s home. Therefore, we will need more support in the coming days.” The gathering concluded after activists from various countries participating in the caravan shared their views with attendees.
On Friday, the “Palestine Caravan” arrived in Şanlıurfa province from Gaziantep province, with plans to continue its route to Palestinian territories via Iraq and Jordan. The caravan departed from Bosnia and Herzegovina on July 25 last year, with activists from various European countries participating, passing through Albania and Greece before entering Turkish territory on July 31.
Israel launched a genocidal war against Gaza on October 8, 2023, resulting in more than 73,000 Palestinian deaths and over 174,000 injuries, most of them children and women, and destroying 90 percent of infrastructure. A ceasefire agreement was reached in October 2025, after two years of genocide; however, Israel continues its daily violations of the agreement, which have resulted in the deaths of 1,250 Palestinians and injuries to 4,110 others, as of Monday.
