The US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced on Saturday that its forces disabled a commercial vessel in the Gulf of Oman after its civilian crew ignored repeated warnings and made multiple attempts to breach the naval blockade imposed on Iran.
CENTCOM stated that a US military aircraft fired precision-guided munitions at the stern of the cargo ship “Huda,” which flies the flag of Saint Kitts and Nevis, disabling it after US forces ordered the crew to evacuate the targeted areas.
It added that the ship attempted to leave territorial waters after visiting an Iranian port.
In a parallel development, Iranian media reported hearing explosions in Qeshm Island and the port of Jask, along with sounds of fighter jets in Bandar Abbas. Reports also indicated that air defenses were activated in the port of Khamir, north of Qeshm Island.
Al Arabiya channel quoted Iranian media as reporting a new explosion in Jask port, while the Iranian Tasnim News Agency confirmed that the explosions in Qeshm were not related to missile strikes.
