The Ministry of Education announced the launch of the National Program for Preparing and Qualifying New Teachers, “Trainee Teacher,” tomorrow, Sunday, November 8, 2026, with the participation of 1,078 trainees in the first cohort, as part of its efforts to develop the teacher preparation system and enhance the quality of educational performance.

The Ministry emphasized that the program implements the Ministerial Decision issued by Minister of Education Eng. Sayed Jalal Al-Tabatabai, regarding the establishment of the job title “Trainee Teacher” and the determination of its conditions and regulations, based on Law Decree No. 86 of 2026, which stipulates that new teachers undergo a one-year training program to qualify them professionally and pedagogically before transitioning to the functional levels of teaching staff.

It clarified that the program, supervised by the General Administration for Development and Improvement, targets 1,078 male and female trainees in its first cohort—graduates of pedagogical specialties who have completed all necessary documents and requirements, including medical examinations and a “no criminal record” certificate. Graduates of non-pedagogical specialties will join them according to a dedicated plan, after completing the required procedures.

It added that 34 trainers have been approved according to specified standards and regulations to deliver training content and transfer professional and pedagogical expertise to new teachers, thereby enhancing their skills and ability to cope with the school environment and educational process requirements.

The Ministry stated that training will be held from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the two training centers affiliated with the General Administration for Development and Improvement in the Mubarak Al-Kabeer and Jahra areas, stressing the necessity for trainees to adhere to the approved schedules and regulatory instructions.

It explained that the program aims to strengthen the integration between academic qualification and professional and practical training, develop new teachers’ skills in lesson planning, classroom management, and effective communication with learners, and familiarize them with school systems and regulations as well as professional ethics.

It noted that the training covers modern educational practices, attention to individual differences among learners, the use of digital technologies and tools, and the development of assessment and monitoring methods, all of which contribute to providing an encouraging and safe learning environment.

Regarding the targeted specialties, the Ministry clarified that the program includes graduates of the College of Education at Kuwait University and the Public Authority for Applied Education and Training in Arabic Language, Mathematics, Sciences, Chemistry, Computer Science, Geology, Music, Electricity, and Interior Design (“Decor”) for both genders, as well as Physical Education, Biology, and Physics, and Home Economics for females only, and Geography, Philosophy, and History for males only.

It also includes graduates of non-pedagogical colleges in Chinese, French, Spanish, industrial and commercial specialties, Law, and Mathematics for both genders, as well as Biology and Physics for males only, according to the categories specified in the program.

The Ministry emphasized that launching the program represents a step toward establishing a more organized framework for preparing new teachers and enhancing their professional and pedagogical competence from the beginning of their careers, which will positively reflect on the quality of education and its outcomes.

The Ministry called on all trainees covered by the program to review the “Dal” platform to access details and instructions, ensure the completion of necessary requirements, and adhere to the specified training schedules.
