Qatar’s Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, said that the United States and Iran failed to reach a “comprehensive agreement,” stressing that both countries should accept a good deal instead of continuing to pursue an “ideal” one.

The Qatari prime minister’s remarks came during an event in the UK city of Oxford, according to a report by Bloomberg Q8.

In a related development, Bloomberg reported that the United States and Iran are studying new proposals put forward by mediators to resolve their differences and avoid a return to all-out war, citing a diplomat familiar with the talks.

The agency added that Qatari mediators traveled to Tehran to hold further talks with Iranian officials, as part of diplomatic efforts aimed at reaching a settlement.

Reuters had previously reported that Qatar has intensified its mediation efforts to bridge the gap between Washington and Tehran and prevent a resumption of military escalation, amid ongoing disagreements over the lifting of US sanctions and the end of the naval blockade, and the release of frozen Iranian assets, while Washington insists on keeping the nuclear file on the negotiating table.
