The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has reaffirmed the State of Kuwait’s commitment to supporting international efforts aimed at protecting the environment and natural resources from the devastating effects of wars and armed conflicts.
This statement was issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the occasion of the International Day for Preventing the Use of the Environment in War and Armed Conflict.
Marking the 25th anniversary of the adoption of United Nations General Assembly Resolution 56/4 in 2001, which was initiated by the State of Kuwait to designate November 6 as the International Day for Preventing the Use of the Environment in War and Armed Conflict, the Ministry emphasized the necessity of respecting international law rules concerning the protection of the environment before, during, and after armed conflicts, and ensuring accountability for violations committed against ecosystems and natural resources.
It stressed that safeguarding the environment is a shared international responsibility and a fundamental pillar for achieving security, peace, and sustainable development for current and future generations.
