The Ministry of Health announced the launch of the 48th Conference on Otorhinolaryngology, which serves as an important scientific platform for exchanging expertise and enhancing collaboration among medical staff, with the participation of a select group of physicians, consultants, experts, and specialists from within Kuwait and abroad.
In a press statement on Thursday, the Ministry noted that Dr. Al-Mondher Al-Husseini, Assistant Undersecretary for Public Health Affairs and representative of the Minister of Health, discussed the latest scientific developments and modern medical technologies in the diagnosis and treatment of ear, nose, and throat diseases, as well as head and neck surgeries and microsurgery.
Speaking on behalf of Minister Dr. Ahmed Al-Awadi, Dr. Al-Husseini stated that estimates by the World Health Organization indicate that more than 700 million people worldwide may require hearing rehabilitation services by 2050, underscoring the importance of expanding early detection, treatment, and rehabilitation services.
He highlighted several medical achievements attained by Kuwait in this specialty, including the Zain Specialty Center for Otorhinolaryngology performing a landmark surgery using robotic technology for head, neck, and tumor surgeries by national medical teams; conducting the first surgery to implant a middle ear hearing device; and expanding the use of hypoglossal nerve stimulation technology to treat sleep apnea.
Dr. Al-Husseini emphasized the Ministry of Health’s commitment to continuing the development of specialized services, investing in the training of national medical personnel, and adopting advanced medical technologies, all of which contribute to improving the quality of healthcare and enhancing patient safety.
