The Turkish parliament approved Article One of a bill on ratifying the “Mecca Pact for Joint Defense” agreement between Turkey, Pakistan, and Saudi Arabia.
This came after the completion of general debates on the bill in the parliament’s plenary session and its transition to article-by-article discussions on the evening of Wednesday.
It is recalled that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, and Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman signed the “Mecca Pact for Joint Defense” on August 7 last year. The agreement aims to enhance the security of the three countries through deterrence and joint defense, within a framework endorsed by Ankara, Islamabad, and Riyadh to support regional security and stability.
