Al-Siyasa learned that 19 companies have been barred from participating in government tenders issued by the Central Tenders Committee on behalf of government entities.
The ban was imposed by decisions of the Committee’s Board of Directors, in application of Article (85) of Law No. (49) of 2016, which governs the penalties the Board applies to contractors, suppliers, and service providers.
It is worth noting that the activities conducted by the banned companies include “trade, contracting, engineering, food equipment, car rental, and petroleum equipment,” among others. The penalties imposed on the companies varied, ranging from “removal from the register for different periods,” “permanent removal,” to “disqualification from participation for varying periods of up to five years,” as well as “confiscation and liquidation of final guarantees” and “warnings.”
The application of these penalties comes within the framework of the Board of Directors’ persistent and continuous efforts to enforce laws and regulations in the issuance and awarding of tenders for government entities’ projects, which in turn contribute to supporting the development process.
