The General Directorate of Criminal Investigation arrested five Bangladeshi nationals for their involvement in selling electronic cigarettes to school students through a grocery store operating inside a residence in the Saad Al-Abdullah area. The suspects received orders, prepared them, and delivered them outside the house.
The Ministry of Interior stated in a press release that the arrest followed intelligence reports indicating that a grocery store near one of the schools was selling electronic cigarettes to teenagers. Investigations and surveillance confirmed the accuracy of the information and uncovered the mechanism for receiving, preparing, and delivering the orders.
The ministry added that the first suspect was arrested outside the house while caught in the act of selling electronic cigarettes to school students. A search of the premises led to the arrest of the remaining suspects, the seizure of 13 large and 23 small boxes of electronic cigarettes, along with 219 small packets of tobacco, and 1,722 Kuwaiti dinars from the proceeds of the sales.
It was clarified that the suspects admitted to working inside the grocery store and dividing tasks among themselves, including supervising workers, collecting payments, receiving orders by phone, preparing them, and delivering them.
The ministry confirmed that the suspects and seized items have been referred to the competent authorities to take the necessary legal action against them.
