A 5.5-magnitude earthquake struck western Colombia on Tuesday, with no reports so far of casualties or material damage.

The European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) said in a statement that the epicenter was located about 77 kilometers from the city of Tuluá, at a depth of 35 kilometers beneath the Earth’s surface.

The center clarified that it had revised the earthquake’s magnitude downward to 5.5, after initially reporting it as 5.8.

It is worth noting that Colombia’s Chocó department was hit on August 10 last year by a 7.4-magnitude earthquake that lasted approximately two minutes. The tremor was also felt in Panama, Ecuador, and Venezuela, resulting in at least 294 deaths, serious damage, and numerous injuries.
