- King Abdullah: Israeli expansionist ambitions pose the greatest threat to the region’s future and aspirations
Jordan’s King Abdullah II affirmed on Monday that his country will not allow terrorists to threaten its security and unity, following the attack in the city of Karak a few days earlier.
Speaking during the opening of the third ordinary session of the 20th National Assembly, King Abdullah II said, “We will not allow anyone to threaten our unity. We will not allow terrorists to threaten our security.”
He added, “A few days ago, the treacherous hand of terrorism reached out to test the resilience of our state and the resolve of our people, but we will be ready to confront them.” He stressed that Jordan “will not allow Kharijite terrorists to undermine the security and unity of this nation.”
Referring to the perpetrators of the Karak attack, the Jordanian monarch said, “These individuals are not among us. They have broken away from our great Jordanian family and betrayed it; they have no place among us, neither today nor tomorrow.”
In the same context, King Abdullah II stated that “Israeli expansionist ambitions remain the greatest threat to the future and aspirations of the region.” Regarding the Palestinian issue, he added, “There is no path to security and stability in our region without fulfilling the Palestinian people’s right to their land.”
He continued, “Despite international calls to halt Israeli violations, the catastrophe in Gaza and the assaults in the West Bank and Jerusalem continue.”
