National Disability Policy Project to Launch in 2027

In a historic move that reinforces Kuwait’s leadership in nurturing and empowering human potential and propels the file of integrating persons with disabilities into unprecedented horizons, the Public Authority for Persons with Disabilities is putting the final touches on its largest strategic project, titled “Preparation and Implementation of the National Policy for Persons with Disabilities.”

Documented data from “Al-Siyasa” confirmed that the full launch of the project is very close, with implementation scheduled to be completed by 2027, after the actual completion rate jumped to approximately 94%, at a financial cost of 20,165,500 Kuwaiti dinars.

In the same context, informed sources told “Al-Siyasa” that this massive project, spearheaded and sponsored by the Authority for Persons with Disabilities in collaboration with leading entities and institutions, is fully aligned with the core pillars of the International Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. They noted that it is fundamentally based on the pillars of inclusive integration across four vital sectors: inclusive and sustainable education, the labor market and vocational empowerment, recreation and community participation, as well as integrated healthcare, with the aim of preparing and regulating quality standards for accessibility and ease of access.

She stated that the state is currently leading a new national policy in the country’s infrastructure and legislation, which includes strict targets to achieve a fully accessible environment.

The sources added that this project will not be limited to the engineering aspect; rather, it aims to revolutionize the quality of education by introducing a scalable pioneering model in public schools to provide good and inclusive education, alongside improving the quality and standards of disability diagnosis and assessment in medical institutions, and developing vocational skills and competencies.
