The “Premier Padel Kuwait Major 2026” concluded on Saturday, with the duo of Arturo Coelho and Agustin Tapia claiming the men’s title, and Gema Triay and Delfi Brea winning the women’s title, following a competition that featured some of the world’s top padel players.

The top-seeded pair of Coelho and Tapia secured the men’s final against Juan Tello and Maximiliano Arce in straight sets, winning 6-1, 6-1, after a clear display of superiority and control over the match from the outset.

In the women’s final, Gema Triay and Delfi Brea claimed the title after defeating Ari Sanchez and Andrea Ostiro in three sets, 3-6, 6-1, 6-1, successfully overcoming their loss in the first set to win the next two.

State Minister for Youth and Sports Dr. Tariq Al-Jalahim attended the final, which was preceded by Kuwaiti heritage performances and a musical interlude amidst an enthusiastic crowd atmosphere.

In a statement to the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) marking the conclusion of the tournament, Al-Jalahim emphasized that Kuwait’s success in hosting and organizing this global sporting event reflects its distinguished organizational capabilities and reinforces its standing as a destination for hosting major international championships.

He stated that this success is the result of the support and attention afforded by the political leadership to the sports sector, and its commitment to developing infrastructure and creating a suitable environment to attract major sporting events.

He added that the tournament, held as part of the “Kuwait Youth and Sports Season” events, embodies the importance of partnership between the public and private sectors in organizing global championships, thereby contributing to stimulating sports tourism, supporting the national economy, and enhancing Kuwait’s international presence.

He clarified that upgrading the tournament from the “B1” category to the “Major” category, which is the highest tier of global padel tournaments, reflects international confidence in Kuwait’s organizational capabilities, and stressed the importance of continuing to attract more major sporting events in line with the state’s aspirations and development vision.

Al-Jalahim praised the efforts of the organizing committee, chaired by Bader Al-Kharafi, and all participating government and private entities, commending the role of “BNK Group” in supporting the tournament, ensuring its success, and presenting Kuwait in an honorable light to participants and spectators.

He affirmed the continued support for high-quality sports initiatives and tournaments that contribute to spreading sports culture and encouraging Kuwaiti youth to participate in various games, and to benefit from the participation of global stars in developing the level of Kuwaiti sports and enhancing its regional and international presence.

It is worth noting that the tournament launched on October 26, with competitions held at the “Arena Mall 360” and the “Rafa Nadal Academy,” featuring 240 male and female players from the world’s elite, under the patronage of “BNK Group” and as part of the “Kuwait Youth and Sports Season” project.
