Hanan Al-Eidan, Deputy Director of the Fatwa and Legislation Department and Legal Advisor, won the Excellence Award for Technical Members of Legislation Departments in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries for 2026, representing the State of Kuwait. The award was presented on the sidelines of the 31st meeting of the Standing Committee of Officials of Legislation Departments in GCC member states, hosted by the Kingdom of Bahrain.
Qutaiba Al-Dbous, a lawyer from the State of Kuwait and a member of the Kuwaiti delegation participating in the meeting, told the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) on Saturday that this honor is the first of its kind awarded by the GCC Secretariat-General to technical members of legislation departments in member states, in recognition of their efforts and contributions to legislative work.
Al-Dbous added that the award reflects the appreciation of Gulf legal and legislative expertise, and helps highlight the efforts of professionals in this field, motivating them to continue their contributions and strive for excellence. This, in turn, enhances the exchange of expertise and experiences among legislation departments in GCC countries and elevates legislative work.
The award ceremony took place on the sidelines of the meeting held last Thursday in the Bahraini capital, Manama, under Bahrain’s chairmanship of the Standing Committee’s work for the current year.
The Kuwaiti Fatwa and Legislation Department participated in the meeting with a delegation led by Jowhar Al-Maqroon, Head of the Legislation Sector and Deputy Director, along with several sector members.
The meeting discussed several items on the Standing Committee’s agenda, focusing on enhancing cooperation, joint coordination, and the exchange of expertise among legislation departments in GCC member states, thereby contributing to the development of legislative work and the advancement of the Gulf legislative system.
