A specialized economic report published on Saturday stated that the liquidity volume of the Kuwait Stock Exchange during the first ten months of the current year (i.e., over 202 trading days) reached approximately 17.131 billion Kuwaiti dinars (around $52.763 billion).

The "Al-Shall Consultations" report clarified that the average daily trading value for the period stood at approximately 84.8 million dinars (around $261 million), representing a decline of about 23.9 percent compared to the average daily trading value for the same period in 2025, which was approximately 111.4 million dinars (around $343 million). It also marked a 21.2 percent decrease compared to the 2025 annual average of approximately 107.6 million dinars (around $331.4 million).

The report noted that trading activity in October 2026 was lower than in September 2026, with a drop in the average daily trading value and negative performance across all market indices. The First Market index fell by approximately 3.0 percent, the Main index by 7.0 percent, and the General index (which reflects the performance of both markets) by 3.7 percent. The Main 50 index experienced a sharper decline of approximately 7.7 percent.

The report indicated that absolute stock exchange liquidity in October was lower than in September, reaching approximately 1.482 billion Kuwaiti dinars (around $4.564 billion), compared to 2.448 billion dinars (around $7.539 billion) in September, a decrease of 39.5 percent.

It further stated that the average daily trading value for October was approximately 70.6 million dinars (around $217.4 million), marking a 36.6 percent drop from the September average of approximately 111.3 million dinars (around $324.8 million).

According to the report, liquidity trends since the beginning of the year indicate that half of the listed companies accounted for only 7.8 percent of total liquidity. Among these, 50 companies captured just 3.1 percent of liquidity, while two companies recorded no trading activity whatsoever.

Regarding relatively small and liquid companies, the report explained that 12 companies, representing approximately 3.6 percent of the total market capitalization of listed firms, received about 20 percent of the stock exchange’s liquidity. This means their share of liquidity was approximately 5.5 times their contribution to market capitalization.

This implies that significant liquidity activity continues to exclude nearly half of the listed companies, while conversely, it strongly favors companies with minimal market capitalization.

The report highlighted that the First Market accounted for approximately 945.4 million dinars (around $2.9 billion), or 63.8 percent of total stock exchange liquidity. Within this market, roughly half of its listed companies captured 77.9 percent of its liquidity, which equated to 49.7 percent of the entire stock exchange’s liquidity, while the other half received the remainder, or approximately 22.1 percent of its liquidity.

Additionally, the Main Market accounted for approximately 535.6 million dinars (around $1.6 billion), or 36.2 percent of total stock exchange liquidity. Within this segment, 20 percent of its listed companies captured 81 percent of its liquidity, while the remaining 80 percent of companies received only 19 percent, indicating a high level of liquidity concentration.

The report noted that the Main Market’s share of total stock exchange trading value during the first ten months of the current year amounted to approximately 36.1 percent.

The report concluded by comparing liquidity distribution between the First and Main markets, noting a decline in the Main Market’s share of total liquidity for the year-to-date in 2026 compared to the same period in 2025. In 2025, the First Market’s share was 55.5 percent, leaving approximately 44.5 percent for the Main Market’s liquidity.
