- Scott warns of potential space war amid escalating rivalry among major powers

Former NASA astronaut Winston Scott expressed his belief in the existence of intelligent life beyond Earth, while simultaneously warning that space could become a battlefield for military confrontations among major powers.

Scott, who participated in two space missions during the 1990s, told the "Jesse Watters Primetime" program on Fox News that he believes other intelligent beings exist in the universe, noting that the vast number of planets makes the possibility of extraterrestrial life likely.

He added that he does not believe humans are the only intelligent beings in the universe, but clarified that he cannot confirm whether extraterrestrial beings have visited Earth.

His comments came after the U.S. Department of Defense released declassified documents related to unidentified aerial phenomena, which included testimonies about sightings of mysterious objects, without providing evidence of extraterrestrial life.

Warning of a space war

Scott warned that military conflicts could extend into space, given the growing competition among major powers. While expressing hope that confrontations in space could be avoided, he did not rule out the possibility of such events occurring in the future.

Despite these concerns, he voiced optimism about the future of lunar exploration, supporting the competition between Elon Musk’s SpaceX and Jeff Bezos’s Blue Origin to develop vehicles capable of landing on the Moon.

Scott participated in two space missions in 1996 and 1997, spending more than 24 days in space.
