The legal principle rests on the presumption that everyone is deemed to know the law upon its publication, in order to ensure equality and guarantee the stability of transactions and legal positions. However, this presumption may clash with reality, as it is practically impossible for individuals to master all legislation due to its volume and diversity. This highlights the strictness of the general rule that ignorance of the law is not a valid defense, which cannot be rebutted by contrary evidence.

Nevertheless, the law permits the annulment of contracts in certain cases due to mistake of law, raising questions about the consistency of these rules. Moreover, limiting exceptions to specific cases may fail to account for situations where ignorance of the law is genuine and not the result of negligence.

From my perspective, the absolute application of this rule may sometimes prioritize the stability of transactions over the achievement of justice for individuals. Therefore, it may be more appropriate to consider certain exceptional circumstances that render the unqualified application of the rule unjust, while establishing precise safeguards for these exceptions to prevent an expansive interpretation of ignorance of the law as a defense. This approach would preserve the stability of legal positions while accommodating cases that warrant a degree of justice and flexibility.

In conclusion, developing limited and carefully considered exceptions achieves a better balance between the authority of the law and the realization of justice.
