Kuwait secured four top positions in the tenth season of the Arabic Reading Challenge held in Dubai, marking a historic first for the country as it participated for the first time in all competition categories within a single season.
Abdullah Al-Barak, the General Coordinator of the Arabic Reading Challenge in Kuwait, told the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) that Kuwait ranked second in the category of Outstanding Supervisor, represented by teacher Badour Al-Asqa, among more than 162,000 supervisors. Meanwhile, Yarmouk Girls’ Secondary School took third place in the Outstanding School category.
He added that student Abdullah Al-Mutairi achieved fourth place in the category for Participants with Special Needs, while student Nour Al-Kandri ranked among the top ten in the Outstanding Student category.
Al-Barak emphasized that this achievement was made possible through the support and encouragement of Minister of Education Sayed Jalal Al-Tabatabai, who is committed to elevating Kuwait’s name and ensuring a distinguished participation that reflects the country’s status and presence at this Arab forum.
He noted that the Minister of Education called Badour Al-Asqa to congratulate her on her achievement, commended Yarmouk Girls’ Secondary School and urged it to continue its efforts in serving Kuwaiti students, and congratulated students Nour Al-Kandri and Abdullah Al-Mutairi on their excellence in the competition.
He clarified that achieving these results in Kuwait’s first participation covering all competition categories within a single season reflects the development of the reading movement in the country and the Ministry of Education’s commitment to nurturing talented and outstanding students.
The Arabic Reading Challenge is the largest Arab initiative overseen by the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives, aiming to revitalize reading culture in the Arab world and instill a love for reading among students.
The tenth season launched during the 2025/2026 academic year and includes categories for Outstanding Student, Outstanding Supervisor, Outstanding School, Participants with Special Needs, as well as the “Champion of the Challenge” category.
This season holds particular significance as it coincides with the tenth anniversary of the competition’s launch, which has seen participation from dozens of Arab countries and millions of students.
