The Criminal Security Sector, represented by the Investigations Department of Al-Jahra Governorate, arrested three Bangladeshi nationals who were operating unlicensed slaughterhouses in the Bar Rahya area, as part of security efforts aimed at curbing illegal activities.
The Ministry of Interior stated in a press release that the arrest operation followed intelligence reports indicating that Asian laborers were exploiting vacant lots and camps to establish unlicensed slaughterhouses. These facilities accepted both healthy and sick livestock for slaughter upon request, without obtaining the necessary permits or undergoing health inspections.
The ministry added that after conducting investigations and monitoring one of the sites, investigators observed a vehicle arriving and unloading livestock intended for slaughter. The site was then raided, and suspects were apprehended inside the slaughterhouse, which lacked basic health standards and was infested with insects and rodents.
The ministry clarified that the operation yielded cash proceeds from the slaughterhouse’s operations. Investigators also identified another adjacent slaughterhouse, where officers moved in and arrested the third suspect.
The ministry confirmed coordination with the Al-Jahra Municipality to demolish the illegal structures and remove the surrounding iron fences, while taking the necessary legal actions against the suspects and referring them to the competent authorities.
