The Salman Al-Dabous Heart Center at Al Adan Hospital launched a transcatheter tricuspid valve implantation program, using the LuX-Valve Plus device, coinciding with the organization of a specialized workshop. The medical team performed two procedures via the jugular vein in the neck, through an incision no larger than one centimeter in diameter.

Two Kuwaiti patients in their late seventies underwent the procedure; they had been suffering from severe tricuspid regurgitation and early liver fibrosis. They left the center the following morning in stable condition, with significant improvement in heart function.

The center’s valve disease team was led by Dr. Al-Tayeb Al-Qallaf, Consultant in Valve and Structural Heart Diseases, alongside Dr. Ali Al-Humaidan, Consultant in Cardiology and Echocardiography, Dr. Ibrahim Hussein Arzon, Cardiologist, and Dr. Mohammed Abdulshafi.

This achievement was supported by the anesthesia and intensive care teams, under the guidance of the heads of the relevant departments, including Dr. Badr Al-Ayad, Head of the Cardiology Department, Dr. Huda Al-Fudairi, and Dr. Mohammed Shamsah.

The launch of the program was supported and directed by Minister of Health Dr. Ahmed Abdulwahab Al-Awadhi, Deputy Minister of Health Sheikh Dr. Salman Khalifa Al-Sabah, and the efforts of the medical and technical staff at the center and the relevant departments at Al Adan Hospital.
