“Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted” (Matthew 5:4)

With hearts filled with deep sorrow and profound grief, Metropolitan Aldo Berrardi, Apostolic Vicar of Northern Arabia, expressed his strongest condemnation and denunciation of the cowardly terrorist attack that targeted the Saint George Orthodox Church in the town of Hamoud, in Karak Governorate, in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, during a funeral service, resulting in the deaths of several innocent victims and injuring others.

He stressed that this heinous criminal act constitutes a blatant violation of the sanctity of human life and the inviolability of places of worship, and is completely contrary to all religious, moral, and human values.

He added: “Terrorism has no religion and no homeland, and attempts to sow division, hatred, and sectarian strife will never undermine the unity and solidarity of the Jordanian people, nor the deep-rooted bonds of brotherhood that unite Muslims and Christians in Jordan.”

He said: “On behalf of myself, the priests, monks, nuns, and all the faithful in the Apostolic Vicariate of Northern Arabia, I extend my warmest condolences and sincere feelings of consolation and solidarity to the Greek Orthodox Church in Jordan, to the families of the victims, and to the entire Jordanian brotherly nation.”

He continued: “I raise my prayers to God for the eternal rest of the souls of the victims, that He may grant their grieving families comfort, strength, and patience, and bestow upon the injured swift and complete healing.” He implored Almighty God to protect the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, its wise Hashemite leadership, and its beloved people from all evil, violence, and division, and to perpetuate upon this dear homeland the blessings of security, peace, harmony, and national unity.

“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God” (Matthew 5:9)
