The Armenian Prelate for Kuwait and neighboring countries, Oshin J. Vartanian, extended his highest congratulations and best wishes to His Highness the Amir of Kuwait, Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, and to His Highness the Crown Prince, Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Sabah, as well as to the Kuwaiti government and people, on the occasion of Kuwait’s re-election to the United Nations Human Rights Council for the term 2027–2029.

In a statement to Al-Siyasah newspaper, Vartanian said that this international mandate represents not merely a diplomatic victory, but an international recognition of Kuwait’s standing and an appreciation of its historical role in humanitarian and relief efforts, as well as its foreign policy based on wisdom, moderation, and support for the oppressed.

He added that the Armenian Church, present in Kuwait for decades, witnesses daily the respect, appreciation, and freedom enjoyed by the Armenian community in practicing its religious rites, within the framework of authentic Kuwaiti values that embrace coexistence, tolerance, and respect for human dignity, regardless of religion or ethnicity. He considered Kuwait’s election to the UN council consistent with these values.

Vartanian emphasized that the principles of justice, human dignity, and brotherhood advocated by the Human Rights Council are the same values upon which the State of Kuwait was founded. He expressed confidence that Kuwait, through its new membership, will continue its constructive role in defending afflicted peoples, promoting a culture of dialogue, and protecting human rights without discrimination or selectivity.

He concluded his statement by praying that God protect Kuwait, its Amir, its Crown Prince, and its people, and perpetuate upon them the blessings of security and stability, so that it remains an oasis of peace, a beacon of humanity, and a meeting point for religions and cultures.
