Al-Rajhi: Not all fees are new... The circular aims to clarify their details and protect passengers’ rights

The General Authority of Civil Aviation stated on Thursday that the circular requiring the inclusion of fee codes for Kuwait International Airport on travel tickets is part of efforts to enhance transparency and inform passengers of the applicable fees and the value of each in a clear and detailed manner.

Abdullah Al-Rajhi, spokesperson for the Civil Aviation Authority, told the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) that the fees listed in Circular No. 58 of 2026, issued on October 19, are not all new; some have been in effect for a while, while others were recently introduced.

Al-Rajhi clarified that the circular aims to standardize the mechanism for disclosing these fees and displaying them in detail on travel tickets, enabling passengers to understand the cost components they incur when booking.

He added that this measure is part of the Civil Aviation Authority’s efforts to protect passengers’ rights and promote transparency in the relationship between passengers, airlines, and travel and tourism agencies.

He noted that the measure also aims to enable passengers to review fee details and refer to them when necessary, including in cases of booking cancellation or ticket refund requests, in accordance with the terms and conditions applicable to the ticket and relevant regulations.

He emphasized the obligation of all airlines and travel and tourism agencies operating in Kuwait to comply with the circular by clearly and separately listing fee codes and their values, thereby helping to reduce confusion and enhance the clarity of information provided to passengers.

Al-Rajhi affirmed that the Civil Aviation Authority will continue its regulatory and supervisory role to ensure the clarity of travel-related procedures, safeguard passengers’ rights, and promote transparency and compliance with the instructions governing the air transport sector in Kuwait.
