The UAE government’s Cybersecurity Council announced on Tuesday that the National Cybersecurity System had detected and thwarted approximately 750,000 cyberattack attempts targeting several critical sectors in recent months, with energy and education among the foremost.
According to a statement issued by the Council, as reported by the Emirates News Agency (WAM), the attacks included remote command execution attempts, distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attacks, phishing campaigns, and attacks leveraging artificial intelligence technologies.
The Council clarified that the detection and response operations were conducted within an integrated national system relying on continuous monitoring, early detection, advanced analysis, and proactive threat response, thereby enhancing the protection of digital infrastructure and critical sectors.
It emphasized that the rise in the number of detected attack attempts does not indicate successful breaches of systems, but rather reflects the effectiveness of national capabilities in identifying threats, responding to them, and mitigating their risks.
The Council stressed its commitment to further developing national capabilities and deploying advanced technologies and artificial intelligence to strengthen cyber defenses and protect critical sectors.
