Insider sources revealed to "Al-Siyasah" that Al-Khafji Joint Operations has signed a prominent strategic memorandum of understanding with both "Aramco Digital" and "SLB" to study and develop the "Raed Platform." This marks a new era in the oil and gas industry, as the platform becomes the first fully autonomous, smart offshore production facility in Saudi Arabia and the Gulf region. This strategic move aims to boost the efficiency of maritime operations and position the region at the forefront of technological innovation in the global energy sector.
Sources stated that the signing ceremony was attended by high-level executives from the three entities. The agreement was signed on behalf of Al-Khafji Joint Operations by Assistant Al-Mutairi, Executive Director of Projects and Engineering, in the presence of Nayef Al-Salimi, Head of Al-Khafji Joint Operations. On behalf of Aramco Digital, the agreement was signed by Eid Al-Harbi, CEO of the Communications Sector, with Ashraf Al-Tamimi, CEO of the company, in attendance. Meanwhile, Rida Kalakoli, CEO for Saudi Arabia and Bahrain, signed on behalf of SLB, with Jesus Lamas, Head of the Middle East and North Africa region at SLB, present.
Sources noted that the emphasis placed on signing this agreement reflects the significant importance these industry giants attach to the success of this digital project. The Raed Platform represents a tangible realization of the next generation of advanced digital oil fields. Its concept is designed to rely entirely on generative artificial intelligence and autonomous automation systems to manage and operate oil and gas production processes in offshore fields and advanced external platforms, without the need for constant or direct human intervention on-site. This contributes to reducing operational costs and maximizing safety levels in harsh marine environments.
Furthermore, the sources added that this revolutionary platform offers a suite of future technologies, including advanced cloud computing systems, real-time big data analytics, and industrial Internet of Things (IoT). This sophisticated system enables the platform to monitor reservoir behavior with extreme precision and automatically perform all necessary operational adjustments to ensure optimal oil and gas flow.
