Four emiri decrees were published in the official gazette, “Kuwait Today,” on Sunday, revoking Kuwaiti citizenship from 12 individuals and those who acquired it through derivative status.
Decree No. 165 of 2026 stipulated the revocation of citizenship from three individuals, while Decree No. 166 ordered its revocation from seven individuals. Decrees Nos. 167 and 168 each provided for the revocation of citizenship from one individual.
The decrees were based on the Constitution, the emiri decree issued on May 10, 2024, and Kuwaiti Citizenship Law No. 15 of 1959 and its amendments. They were issued following a proposal by the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, and with the approval of the Council of Ministers.
The decrees stipulated that the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior shall be responsible for their implementation, that they shall take effect from the date of their issuance, and that they shall be published in the official gazette.
