Alghanim Industries Announces Formation of Group Board of Directors, Led by Qutaiba Alghanim

Comprising leaders with extensive local and international expertise

A step that strengthens the governance framework and supports the Group’s institutional development and its growth and expansion plans

Alghanim Industries (a part of the Quteiba Yousuf Ahmed Alghanim Group), one of the largest private sector companies in the region, has announced the formation of the Group’s Board of Directors, chaired by Quteiba Yousuf Alghanim, Executive Chairman of the Group. This move aims to strengthen the governance framework and support the Group’s institutional development and its plans for growth and expansion.

The Board includes Hazem Shawqi as Deputy Chairman, alongside Sheikh Salem Abdullah Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Nizar Mohammed Al-Adasani, Walid Al-Asimi, Ameer Al-Khudhairi, and Eyad Malas.

The Board brings together extensive leadership expertise in the fields of international relations, energy, banking, investment, finance, business management, and governance. It will work alongside the executive management to guide the Group’s strategic direction, enhance governance, and improve decision-making effectiveness, leveraging the members’ experience and insights to align with the Group’s growth and expansion plans.

Hazem Shawqi

Hazem Shawqi possesses extensive international experience in the banking and investment sectors. He previously served as Head of Investment Banking for the Middle East and North Africa region at UBS, in addition to holding leadership positions at global financial institutions, including Credit Suisse and Goldman Sachs.

He has closely collaborated with several major groups and companies in the region, providing advisory services on strategic deals and growth and expansion plans.

Sheikh Salem Abdullah Al-Jaber Al-Sabah

Sheikh Salem Abdullah Al-Jaber Al-Sabah has a diplomatic and international career spanning over 37 years, during which he held several prominent positions, including serving as Kuwait’s Ambassador to the United States for more than two decades, and as Minister of Foreign Affairs. He holds both a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree in Political Science from the American University of Beirut.

He currently serves as Chairman of the Board of Directors of SMAEX and plays a key role in guiding the company’s efforts toward building long-term strategic partnerships and navigating regulatory and legislative frameworks across various markets.

Nizar Mohammed Al-Adasani

Nizar Mohammed Al-Adasani has over three decades of experience in the energy sector. He previously served as Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Kuwait Petroleum Corporation, in addition to holding leadership positions at Kuwait Oil Company, Kuwait Oil Exploration Company (KOC), Kuwait Gulf Oil Company, and the Ghawar Joint Operations. His expertise spans energy, investment, strategy, and governance.

Nizar holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of South Dakota in the United States.

Walid Al-Asimi

He has over 45 years of experience in accounting, auditing, financial control, and governance, and spent approximately four decades at Ernst & Young – Kuwait, where he held the positions of Partner and Managing Partner. He worked with leading institutions in both the public and private sectors. Earlier in his career, he held senior financial leadership roles at Kuwait Finance House, and actively contributed to the development of the profession through his leadership positions in the Kuwait Society of Accountants and Auditors. He also held senior leadership roles in the financial sector at Kuwait Finance House.

Ammar Al-Khudhairi

He possesses over 35 years of experience in the banking and investment sectors, encompassing corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions, asset management, direct investment, and venture capital. He previously chaired the Board of Directors of the National Bank of Saudi Arabia and played a key role in the merger that led to the establishment of the largest bank in the Kingdom. He also chaired the boards of directors of Goldman Sachs Saudi Arabia, Morgan Stanley Saudi Arabia, and Allianz French Saudi Bank. He is the founding partner and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Amwal Capital Partners.

Eyad Malas

He has over 30 years of international experience in the investment, financial services, real estate, retail, and entertainment sectors. He currently serves as Chief Executive Officer of Al Ghurair Group. Previously, he was Chief Executive Officer of Majid Al Futtaim Holdings, where he led the group through a period of strategic growth and expansion. He also held senior leadership positions at the International Finance Corporation, Hermes Financial Group, and Gateway Partners, in addition to serving on the boards of directors of several companies.
