Egyptian Parliament to hold a session tomorrow after Sisi's request for authorization to defend Saudi Arabia

The Egyptian Parliament announced on Saturday that a general session will be held tomorrow, Sunday, at 1:00 p.m., following President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi’s request for parliamentary authorization to take measures to support and defend the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia if Riyadh so requests.

In a brief statement, the Parliament said: “In light of the request of the President of the Republic, it has been decided to hold the general session of the Parliament at 1:00 p.m. tomorrow, Sunday, October 18, 2026.”

The Egyptian president had previously called for a parliamentary session to discuss granting him authorization to take actions to support Saudi Arabia and safeguard its security and sovereignty, emphasizing his country’s readiness to respond to any Saudi request in this regard.
