A British court sentenced a 19-year-old Norwegian man to 20 years in prison on Friday, after convicting him of conspiracy to commit murder in the UK, in a case linked to an organized criminal network with ties to Iran.
Reuters reported that the convicted man, Johannes Kongsgaard Natland, was recruited to execute the plot through the “Foxtrot” criminal network, based in Sweden and linked to Iran.
British police arrested Natland in March 2025 at a hotel in Huddersfield, northern England, and found a semi-automatic pistol, a revolver, and ammunition in his possession.
Natland admitted to possessing weapons and ammunition but denied the charge of conspiracy to murder, claiming he had no intention of carrying out the plot, before being convicted by a jury last July.
Investigations revealed that Natland was recruited with the help of a 17-year-old Norwegian teenager known as “The General,” who had previously been sentenced to prison in Norway for his role in criminal activities.
British police confirmed that the suspect was on the verge of carrying out the crime when he was arrested, noting that investigations had not established a direct link to Iran in this case, despite the “Foxtrot” network’s association with criminal activities linked to Tehran.
