Specialized authorities within the Ministry of Interior have apprehended suspects who infiltrated the Sabah Al-Ahmad Wildlife Sanctuary in an unlicensed vehicle for the purpose of hunting. It was revealed that the suspects are regular visitors who have a habit of sneaking into the sanctuary.

In a statement, the Ministry of Interior said the arrest operation was conducted in cooperation between the General Directorate of Emergency Police and the General Directorate of Criminal Investigation, after sanctuary security detected the suspects’ infiltration and notified the operations room. Search and investigative efforts led to their apprehension following their escape.

The ministry added that the Environment Police issued violations against the suspects and referred them to the competent authorities to take the necessary legal measures. The vehicle and fishing gear used in the incident were confiscated, and the vehicle was impounded.

The ministry clarified that Article 150 of the Environmental Protection Law stipulates that anyone violating the provisions of Article 105 of the law shall be punished with imprisonment for a term not exceeding one year and a fine not less than 500 dinars and not more than 5,000 dinars, or either of these two penalties, along with confiscation of the fishing gear and the vehicle used, and impoundment of the vehicle.

The Ministry of Interior warned against infiltrating natural reserves or entering restricted areas without a permit, emphasizing that such violations will not go unpunished. Security agencies will not tolerate offenders, and will relentlessly pursue, apprehend, and take strict legal action against them without exception.
