The patient in his seventies was discharged from the hospital in good health two days later... American experts praise the competence of Kuwaiti doctors
The Ministry of Health announced on Thursday that a medical team at Jaber Al-Ahmad Hospital successfully performed a transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) on a patient in his seventies who was suffering from severe aortic stenosis. This condition had led to repeated hospitalizations due to fluid accumulation in the lungs, commonly known as “water on the lungs.”
The ministry stated that the procedure was carried out by a medical team comprising Dr. Ali Sahib and Dr. Mohammed Al-Turki, under local anesthesia, using the Navitor Vision valve, a modern valve specifically designed for transcatheter implantation to treat aortic stenosis.
It added that the surgery was broadcast live via satellite from Jaber Al-Ahmad Hospital to the Gulf Heart Valve Conference held in Dubai, where participants followed the procedure as part of medical education and knowledge exchange.
The ministry noted that the patient was discharged from the hospital in good health two days after the interventional catheterization, with no significant complications recorded.
It mentioned that conference organizers and participating experts from the United States praised the expertise and competence of Kuwaiti doctors in performing this type of cardiac intervention.
The ministry emphasized that Jaber Al-Ahmad Hospital continues to strengthen its presence in the field of complex transcatheter cardiac interventions by providing specialized medical care and exchanging expertise with participants in regional specialized medical conferences.
