The Apostolic Nuncio to the Arabian Peninsula for the Catholic Church, Bishop Aldo Berardi, extended his highest congratulations and best wishes to His Highness the Amir of Kuwait, Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, to His Highness the Crown Prince, Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, and to the Kuwaiti government and people on the occasion of Kuwait’s re-election to the United Nations Human Rights Council for the term (2027–2029).
Berardi stated that this important diplomatic achievement reflects the distinguished status enjoyed by the State of Kuwait in the international community, and embodies the international community’s appreciation for its humanitarian role and its foreign policy based on moderation, balance, dialogue, peaceful coexistence, and respect for human dignity. As the Catholic Church present and active on the benevolent soil of Kuwait, we highly value the spirit of tolerance, mutual respect, and freedom of worship that we enjoy, which fosters fraternal coexistence among citizens and residents of different religions and cultures.
He added that as we share Kuwait’s joy over this national and international achievement, we affirm that protecting human rights, safeguarding the dignity of every individual, and promoting the values of justice, peace, and human fraternity constitute a shared responsibility that unites us all. With confidence and hope, we look forward to Kuwait continuing, through its renewed membership in the Human Rights Council, its constructive role in enhancing international dialogue and cooperation, and defending human dignity and fundamental rights without any discrimination.
He concluded by saying: We offer our prayers to God Almighty to protect Kuwait, its wise leadership, and its noble people, and to perpetuate upon this blessed land the blessings of security, stability, peace, and prosperity, so that it may always remain a homeland of love, tolerance, and mutual respect, and a land of fraternal encounter among peoples and religions.
