The Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council warned on Tuesday against colluding with Houthi militias, funding their activities, or assisting them, emphasizing that national laws prescribe penalties up to the death penalty for crimes endangering state security and independence, or aiding the enemy.
In a statement reported by the state-run Yemeni News Agency (Saba), the Council affirmed that colluding with Houthi militias or providing them with information and resources that enable them to target the state, citizens, and the armed forces and security apparatus necessitates legal accountability, according to the nature of the acts and crimes committed.
The Council called on citizens and members of state institutions and agencies to report facts and information related to these crimes through official channels, directing competent authorities to protect whistleblowers and witnesses and ensure the confidentiality of their information within the framework of the law.
It directed security and military agencies and judicial police officers to take immediate action regarding incidents with serious evidence, collect and preserve evidence, take legal measures, and promptly initiate and complete investigations under the supervision of the competent public and military prosecution, referring those with sufficient evidence against them to the competent judiciary.
It stressed that official, military, or security status or influence does not exempt anyone from legal accountability, affirming that measures will be taken against anyone proven to exploit their position or resources to serve Houthi militias or undermine national defense capabilities.
It commended the efforts of the armed forces and security agencies in protecting citizens and consolidating security and stability in liberated governorates, calling for heightened vigilance, coordination, and enhanced protection of vital facilities, sites, information, and defense secrets, as well as countering intrusion attempts.
It affirmed the continued pursuit of perpetrators of crimes targeting the Republic, the country’s sovereignty, and citizens’ security, and the enforcement of judicial rulings issued against them in accordance with the law, emphasizing that protecting the home front and strengthening state institutions constitute an essential part of the struggle to restore state institutions and achieve security, stability, and peace.
