Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty affirmed on Tuesday Egypt’s readiness to respond to any Saudi request for support, including military assistance, stressing his country’s steadfast backing of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in the face of attacks targeting its territory.

In an interview with Bloomberg, Abdelatty said Cairo is seriously studying the Mecca Agreement for Joint Defense, which includes Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, and Turkey.

He clarified that “Saudi national security is an integral part of Egypt’s and the Arab world’s national security,” emphasizing that Egypt provides all forms of support and solidarity with the Kingdom “without any reservations.”

When asked about the possibility of providing military support to the Kingdom, Abdelatty said, “Whatever Saudi Arabia requests, we will certainly provide,” reiterating Egypt’s rejection of attacks targeting Saudi territory, its firm stance alongside the Kingdom, and its full condemnation of such attacks.

Regarding developments in the Red Sea and the Bab al-Mandab Strait, Abdelatty noted that what is happening in the region has a highly negative impact on the Suez Canal.
