Municipality: Safeguarding State Assets is a Shared Social Responsibility... Encroachment Crackdown Continues

- Demolition of an unlicensed diwaniya in Hawalli after the legal deadline expired; call for violators to voluntarily remove their encroachments

Kuwait Municipality affirmed on Monday that safeguarding state property is a shared societal responsibility, extending beyond temporary campaigns to remove encroachments, and that such violations will be addressed on an ongoing basis.

Mohammed Al-Jalawi, a member of the central team at the Office of the Municipality’s Director General, stated in a press comment during a supervisory tour in Hawalli Governorate that the municipality’s campaign, “Kuwait is More Beautiful Without Encroachments,” launched last June, primarily contributes to ensuring everyone’s safety.

Al-Jalawi explained that the supervisory team demolished an unlicensed structure (a diwaniya) erected near the sidewalk and utilities, following the expiration of the legally mandated period, as the violator had been warned but failed to comply.

He commended, conversely, the cooperation of several property owners who had committed violations, highlighting their prompt response and voluntary removal of their encroachments, and urged other violators to rectify their infractions before supervisory teams reach them.

Al-Jalawi also praised the significant role played by government entities and their participation in the campaign since its inception, including the Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy, the Ministry of Interior, and the Public Authority for Environmental Affairs.

He stated that the municipality encourages citizens and residents to follow its official accounts to benefit from awareness messages and guidelines published regularly, and to contact the municipality to inquire about any regulatory requirements, thereby facilitating their procedures and ensuring compliance with laws and regulations.
