Bahrain and Saudi Arabia discuss Gulf movement in the Security Council to confront Houthi attacks on the Kingdom
Bahraini Foreign Minister Dr. Abdul Latif bin Rashid Al Zayani held talks today, Monday, with his Saudi counterpart, Prince Faisal bin Farhan, to discuss the latest regional developments and the repercussions of the attacks launched by the Houthi militia against the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, including strikes on civilian infrastructure and airports.
In a statement, the Bahraini Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that Al Zayani expressed Bahrain’s sincere condolences and heartfelt sympathy for the victims of the attack on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh during a phone call, wishing the injured a swift recovery.
Al Zayani emphasized Bahrain’s strong condemnation of the attack and its full solidarity with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, as well as its support for all measures taken to safeguard the kingdom’s sovereignty, security, and stability.
The statement clarified that the discussions underscored that the terrorist attacks constitute a blatant violation of Saudi sovereignty, international law, and international humanitarian law, and pose a serious threat to the security of international civil aviation and the safety of passengers.
The two sides also exchanged views on enhancing cooperation, coordination, and joint consultation regarding the Gulf diplomatic initiative at the United Nations Security Council, in light of Bahrain’s non-permanent membership on the Council, as well as mobilizing international support to adopt a firm stance against the Houthi attacks on the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which have resulted in loss of life and property and pose a threat to regional security and stability.
