- Designating June 1 of each year as a national occasion and official holiday named "Day of the Covenant and Loyalty."
Bahraini King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa said on Sunday that the region has witnessed increasingly dangerous developments over the past months, culminating in reprehensible Iranian attacks and interventions that targeted the security of homelands and peoples, indifferent to the consequences and to the fact that such acts violate international norms, laws, rules of good neighborliness, and shared destiny, and have disrupted collective efforts aimed at de-escalation and restoring regional security and peace.

The Bahrain News Agency reported that this was stated in a speech delivered by the King of Bahrain during the opening of the fifth session of the sixth legislative term of the Bahraini Consultative Council and Chamber of Deputies.
King Hamad bin Isa added that these events have proven that every stance has its price, and that public opinion in countries affected by these hostile Iranian stances has become more aware of the realities of the situation and more determined to establish justice and consolidate security. He emphasized that deterrence begins with a unified stance and clear vision, and is reinforced through hard work to achieve real peace that keeps the region away from the dangers of weapons of mass destruction, ensures freedom of navigation, and prevents interference with the security of waterways, ultimately bringing prosperity and benefit to the region and the nation.
He expressed satisfaction and pride, highlighting the highly effective role played by the Bahraini government during this phase, under the direction and follow-up of Crown Prince and Prime Minister Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa. This has ensured the continued provision of services with the expected efficiency and quality, and the progress of restoring matters to their normal course, particularly in economic and living standards aspects.
He affirmed confidence in the government plans devised to address the requirements of the current stage, achieving a balance between the necessities of stability and the requirements of development.
The King of Bahrain extended his gratitude and appreciation to the defense and security forces for their vigilance, effectiveness, and distinction in facing challenges and threats, and for their exceptional efforts in protecting the homeland and defending its sovereignty. He reaffirmed full commitment to the policy of developing defense and security capabilities and updating their systems, thereby strengthening the country’s security and deterrence with firm resolve and clear victory, by God’s will.
He stated that, out of gratitude for these genuine stances: "We announce the designation of June 1 of each year as a national occasion and official holiday named 'Day of the Covenant and Loyalty.' This date coincides with the signing of our Document of Gratitude and Loyalty to the noble people of Bahrain, in response to the sincere sentiments contained in the Covenant and Loyalty documents, which embodied the love of belonging to this blessed land and the courage to defend our constants. May this day remain a witness to our national unity in its most splendid form."
He praised the significant historical role of the United States and its steadfast commitment to supporting the Kingdom of Bahrain politically and defensively. This support continues today under the leadership of President Donald Trump, extending a strategic partnership between the two countries, and appreciating its role alongside Bahrain in maintaining regional security and stability.
He clarified that the Kingdom of Bahrain draws its contemporary presence from a state confident in its institutions, which are keen to preserve its civilizational heritage, making it better equipped to play its role in its neighborhood and in the world.
King Hamad bin Isa added that Bahrain’s non-permanent membership in the United Nations Security Council reflected this conviction and underscored the active foreign policy approach committed to the principles of dialogue and understanding, grounded in sustainable peace diplomacy and the fulfillment of “our country’s commitments to the international community.”
In this context, he noted that a historic achievement was realized with the adoption of United Nations Security Council Resolution 2817 of 2026, which the Kingdom of Bahrain spearheaded on behalf of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, and which received the broadest co-sponsorship in the history of the Security Council, in support of peace, security, and stability in the region.
