Arab and international outrage over Houthi militia attacks on King Khalid Airport... widespread solidarity with Saudi Arabia

Arab and international condemnations have followed the attacks targeting King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, with reaffirmations of solidarity with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, rejection of attacks on civilians and critical infrastructure, and calls to de-escalate tensions and respect international law.

The Kingdom of Bahrain expressed its strong condemnation and rejection of the continued assaults launched by the Iran-backed Houthi militia against Saudi Arabia, considering the renewed attack on King Khalid International Airport a serious escalation and an extension of the strike on the same airport two days prior.

The Bahraini Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirmed that these attacks constitute a blatant violation of international law, international humanitarian law, and the UN Charter, posing a threat to regional security, international civil aviation, and the safety of passengers and crews. They also represent a breach of the Chicago Convention and resolutions of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).

Bahrain emphasized its full solidarity with Saudi Arabia and its support for all measures taken to protect the Kingdom’s sovereignty, security, stability, citizens, and residents on its territory, affirming that the security of Saudi Arabia is an integral part of the security of Bahrain and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states.

Bahrain also called on the UN Security Council, ICAO, and the international community to take firm and deterrent measures to stop the repeated Houthi attacks on civilians, infrastructure, and airports, and to hold perpetrators and their supporters accountable, ensuring the implementation of relevant resolutions, particularly Resolutions 2216 and 2817.

In Abu Dhabi, the United Arab Emirates strongly condemned the attacks launched by Houthi militias on King Khalid International Airport, which resulted in the deaths of 12 people of various nationalities and injured hundreds of civilians.

The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirmed that the attacks constitute a blatant violation of Saudi sovereignty and a threat to its security and stability, reiterating the UAE’s full solidarity with Saudi Arabia and its support for all measures aimed at preserving its security and stability.

In Beirut, Lebanon strongly condemned the targeting of the airport, affirming its rejection of any infringement on Saudi sovereignty, security, and territorial integrity, and its full solidarity with the Kingdom, standing by its side in the face of any attack targeting its security and the safety of its citizens and residents.

The Lebanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates emphasized that targeting critical infrastructure and civilians constitutes a violation of international law and international humanitarian law.

In Baghdad, the Iraqi government strongly condemned the attack on the airport that resulted in civilian casualties. Spokesman for the Prime Minister, Sabah al-Nuaiman, stated that the attack poses a threat to regional security and stability.
